About SSC PFA
The Parents and Friends Association (PFA) is a fundraising charity and support organisation for the Special Support Centre (SSC) which is based at Desmond Anderson Academy in Crawley, West Sussex. It is dedicated to the education and development of children with autism throughout the area. Originally set up in November 2008 by Paul and Louise Flowerday, the SSC PFA was granted charitable status in July 2009; charity number 1130557.
The aims of the association are to advance the education of pupils in the Special Support Centre, by: 1) Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the Centre, 2) Assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the Centre, not normally supplied by the local education authority.
Run by a great team of specially trained qualified teachers and support staff, this fantastic Centre achieves wonderful results with challenging children. Our children range in age from 4 to 11 years and broadly try to follow the National Curriculum for those ages. Presently there are 19 children in the Unit split into two classes, SSC1 is Key Stage 1 (4-7 yrs) and SSC2 is Key Stage 2 (7-11yrs).
