Story
Jake Glover was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called fucosidosis.
Fucosidosis is a rare lysosomal storage disorder in which the FUCA1 gene experiences mutations that severely reduce or stop the activity of the alpha-L-fucosidase enzyme.
The result is a buildup up complex sugars in parts of the body, which leads to death.
Patients with Type 1 Fucosidosis are not expected to live past 6 years but Jake has proved the doctors wrong as he has recently celebrated his 8th birthday. Because of Jakes condition, it means he has to have regular care at the Shooting Star CHASE hospice in Guildford. The hospice is a god send to Jake and his family but it heavily relies on money raised by fundraisers so without donations it would struggle to exist.
My aim is to complete as many 5k to 20k assault courses as possible to raise money for the hospice, its staff and all the children and their families.
