Story
I am taking part in the Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle ride. My daughter Lizzie and myself will be using part of our Annual Leave in November to volunteer for the Vine Trust. We are travelling to Mwanza in Tanzania and working on board the Jubilee Hope for two weeks. This is a medical ship. The medical team provide basic healthcare to the inhabitants of the remote islands on the shores of Lake Victoria. The programme provides a range of primary health care including General Medicine, Dentistry, Mother and Child clinics and HIV testing/treatment. Through this initiative a positive difference can be made to some of the poorest children and communities in the world. I have previously volunteered on the Amazon Hope in Peru and found it a wonderful, worthwhile and humbling experience. I am very excited about this trip, particularly as I will be sharing the experience with Lizzie. All donations go directly to the Vine Trust. I am funding my travel and accomodation on the ship.
