We inspire, inform and empower people to stop wild animals going extinct.

Story

While I was teaching at a tiger vet workshop in Indonesia, a young male Sumatran tiger arrived with fatal injuries following a pig-snaring incident. His fate is that of so many tigers who come into conflict with the ever increasing and encroaching human population. (Be warned the last 2 photos are heartbreaking).

It was such a humbling experience to work alongside the dedicated team of Indonesian men and woman who together with ZSL's Indonesia Project dedicate their lives to protecting the remaining Sumatran tigers and their rapidly dwindling natural forest territory. It was tragic to see at first hand the pressures these magnificent creatures increasingly face and to understand just how important and never-ending the work to save these animals in the wild is.

I realise I am incredibly privileged to work as a vet at ZSL's London Zoo with what must truly be some of the most beautiful iconic animals alive in the world today. It has been a nail-biting saga following our young Sumatran tiger pair, Jaejae and Melati, flown in from opposite corners of the globe, from their first tentative introductions through to the current joy of a litter of 3 little striped mischievous furies who have no idea just how rare and precious they are! (see them here on ZSL's Cubcam Cubcamhttp://www.zsl.org/videos/zoo-babies/tiger-cubs-first-check-up)

My greatest wish is that one day their species will be safe and secure in their natural environment, but it is only with the tireless support of the teams in the field that this will ever be achieved. I believe ZSL's work towards this achievement is invaluable and I would like to help fulfil this goal in every way possible - from helping run veterinary tiger workshops for tiger-human conflict  in Indonesia as I have done, to running triathlons wearing tiger ears  - everything helps!

I hope to raise £2500 - £500 for each tiger. I'm sure we can achieve that together! Thank you for helping me to help them.
