Story
A little over a year ago, one of our team (Justyn Christer), lost his sister, Andrea, to cancer.
Shortly after her death Justyn re-discovered running, thanks to his wife, Kim, and a group of very supportive friends (Simon, Shaun & Ben) who run weekly together at Kettering parkrun.
Before she died Andrea had decided that, when the time came, she would go into a hospice. Unfortunately, there was a chance that a place at her local hospice in Cheshire wouldn’t be available and the alternative option was a care home.
On the morning of May 25th, 2017, Andrea died peacefully at home. In the end she was never faced with having to receive palliative care in a care home instead of a hospice.
It's sad that hospices may have to turn people away as they simply can’t, at times, cope with demand.
On Sunday, 16th September, ‘Team Andrea’ - consisting of Simon Byford, Shaun Drage, Ben Roe and Justyn Christer - will line up for the Cransley Hospice 10k.
We will be running for the enjoyment it brings us, but we’ll also be running in memory of Andrea to raise Cransley Hospice a few pounds in the hope that, perhaps, we can help them to accommodate more people in their ultimate time of need.
So, if you can, please spare us your loose change, a couple of pounds - or five or ten if you can - and help us to support our local hospice that brings peace to so many people, and their families, during their final days.
