Story
The Race is a serious challenge, involving 389 nautical miles of
sailing, 40 miles of off road cycling and 55 miles of mountain running,
including ascending each of Wales, England, and Scotland's highest mountains. The Race Committee draws the
attention of competitors to the difficult nature of the sailing, through some
of the trickiest waters on the West coast of Great Britain.
Team Rio is an international team comprising a Dutch registered yacht with a
crew of 5..... 3 experienced Dutch sailors and
2 British runners.
Sailors Bob and Joost have in the past been to Nepal to do some hiking and
found it a wonderful country with very welcoming people. Given recent
developments we have picked a charity that provides effective help. Medecins
Sans Frontieres - www.msf.org is
an organisation that does great work. It is an originally French charity
that is well known in The Netherlands. It uses funding effectively in
areas where help is needed most, including extremely difficult and dangerous
locations such as Syria.
You can track the race online at yellow brick satellite tracking - details of
how to do this will be on the three peaks yacht race live page - www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk/#!2015-live-page/cdml
