Story
Having turned my lifestyle around in 2019, losing almost 5 stones (30 kg) in the process, I have decided to use this as the impetus to fulfil a long held ambition to throw myself out of a plane. If you share the ambition to see me hurled out of a plane then please support one of the two great causes I have chosen.
The first of these is Cancer Research , in memory of my parents, both of whom were taken by this terrible illness. Cancer Research do amazing work fighting a disease which will directly affect almost 40% of people at some time in their life. Rather than diluting any donations by splitting them between charities looking at specific cancer types I felt this was the best way to honour two amazing people. Gone but not forgotten.
The second charity is the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in memory of Martin Dean who lost his life to Motor Neurone Disease last year at the age of just 53. I only knew Martin for a short while but he was a good friend who lived his life to the full and about whom no-one ever had a bad word to say. It was too cruel that his life was cut short in this way. I met Martin through an on-line rugby forum, the Rugby Refugees. Rugby is an incredible sport for bringing people together. If you don't know the story of Doddie Weir, an ex-Scotland rugby international who is also fighting MND then I would urge you to visit the charity's website as he is truly an inspirational character.
I have not provided a date for the jump as clearly this is weather dependent but hopefully it will take place on Good Friday, 10th April 2020. 100% of all money donated will go to the chosen charities, I am covering the costs of the jump myself and will also be arranging for it to be filmed so that evidence can be provided via the usual social media channels!
Many thanks for your support.
