Story

PLEASE SHARE! Spread the word! On Sunday 11th October 2020, I will be running the Manchester Marathon for Cumbria, Northumberland,Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (First Steps) and MIND, Share the post to spread the word and awareness also if you can donate that would be incredible and I please ask that you split your donation 50/50 between the 2 charities. Why These 2 Charities? I have chosen these 2 charities as myself over the past 4 years I have suffered from Severe OCD and Anxiety, over time it started to take over my life to the point where I was not wanting to socialise with certain people and was very anxious in the public domain. I had come to terms with this and thought that this was my new way of life until I found the strength to open up to friends (who i would now class as family) who supported me and guided me to seek the help I needed. As of today I have been discharged by First Steps (Cumbria, Northumberland,Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust) who have helped me to get back on track, even though I still struggle with certain things, I now have the ability and tools to overcome certain situations and scenarios. I am forever grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout, I know how it feels to need help and be alone and would not want anyone to suffer in silence as i know how it feels due to being scared to talk. I'm hoping by spreading the awareness and raising funds I can help contribute towards the charities to help those who are in need! I am running the marathon to raise awareness for mental health, especially in the world right now as more people may be in need, and also to help contribute to the charities to allow people who need the help I needed 12-18 months ago. My inbox is open for anyone at all who may need to talk or chat fire away, hopefully my campaign can give people hope and a chance to seek help and get back on track just like i did when i thought it was impossible. I just want to say again a massive thank you to everyone who has helped me, the list would be huge and I'm sure you know who you are! Thanks guys, spread the word, check on your friends and stay safe! It's Okay not to be okay! TALK! More updates regarding the marathon to follow! Joshua x

About the charity

SHINE make a huge difference to the experience of service users cared for in our hospital sites and community services across the North East and Cumbria. Donations can provide the support for the extra things that would not be possible from funding we receive from central government alone.
