Himalayan Disaster (Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDDVa7tsqIA for more information on appeal)
There has been an unprecedented disaster in Uttarakhand in the Indian Himalayas, with 5,700 'presumed dead, while newspaper resports put it at more than 11,000 dead, many thousand animal lives lost, 4200 villages affected, with over 50,000 people affected in just one of the districts ONLY, where Chintan is working since disaster hit the area.
UK based Chintan International Trust (Registered Charity No.1133345) has been working directly in the disaster area, reaching cut-off, isolated & needy people. Providing over 3,000 kgs of food-grain, temporary shelters & medical help to rebuild lives. However, It needs more funds to continue this effort & make it into sustainable program.
Through their Chintan ‘RAHAT’ Program - literally meaning relief, acronym for Relief Access & Habilitation with Appropriate Training, they are helping people in disaster affected areas.Their volunteers are undertaking many challenging walks to help the needy, well over two thousand of kms of difficult driving, over two hundred kms of walking over challenging terrain in detours around devastated roads & paths, visiting cut off villages, hearing stories of terror, sharing shattered lives, providing medical help & relief material, helping boost morales & rebuild lives.
We can not match their walk or good work, but to boost their morale and fund-raise for them, I along with my freinds doing a 25 Kms Charity walk in London, UK as per below:
What: Thames Trail Charity Walk

Where: 25 kms walk from Putney to Greenwich on the south bank of the Thames Trail
