We offer the children of servicemen and women (and of course those who have retired from the services) a really special week of love and laughter with an important spiritual dimension.
Each year we aim to take around 10 children to Lourdes within our family group. Group 186 takes children on the basis of their medical or social needs, and although our primary aim is to serve the Royal Naval community, we also consider applications from non-naval families if space and resources exist. The group raises funds and receives substantial grants from naval charities for the sponsorship of all the children we take, and as a result, no cost is incurred by the children’s families.
Though based in the Portsmouth area we can accommodate Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel, and their children, who are based in other parts of central and south-east England. To name but a few: HMS Nelson, HMS Excellent, HMS Collingwood, HMS Sultan, Fort Blockhouse, MDHU Portsmouth, Defence Diving School and the Northwood HQ, as well as the numerous ships and units that operate from HM Naval Base Portsmouth.
