When you have a child with special needs, the milestones that are magical for any parent become absolute miracles. We are constantly amazed each and every day by the amazing steps that these little superheroes take, whether it is a smile; or a word; or taking a step; or making a friend. These tiny yet enormous things can make you burst with pride and happiness.
Behind the scenes is a constant stream of appointments with professionals, meetings with school, speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, reams and reams and reams of paperwork to be filled in to justify your little superheroes entitlement to support and the chance to live a life without limits, or at the very least with fewer limits. It can therefore be hard to fit in, or even consider fitting in, a photo shoot to capture those important and precious moments of childhood.
As an ongoing, long-term project, I am offering children with special needs their own superhero or fairytale photo session, with 3 digital images, for a £5 voluntary donation to the National Autistic Society or Unique. Both of these charities are very close to my heart.
