Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.
We are; Team – “Nowt Better To Do” – Alan Scarisbrick, Bob & Charles Coventry, John Branson, Stuart Singleton and Alex Perkis
We have entered the Coniston Challenge 2016 to support and raise much needed funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is the busiest children’s hospital in the UK caring for over 275,000 young patients each year. Alder Hey is a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, heart, spinal and brain disease and a National Centre for head and facial surgery, we are one of only four centres nationally to provide epilepsy surgery and one of two accredited major trauma units for children in the North West – our A & E department treats nearly 60,000 children every year.
In 2005, Bob Coventry's son Charles underwent surgery at Alder Hey to remove a dermoid spinal cyst along with 6 months rehabilitation to correct and restore his ability to walk. Charles is participating in the event to raise funds in gratitude.
In 2010, more bad news within the Coventry household with Bob's youngest daughter Emily being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Emily has underwent chemotherapy which required a bone marrow transplant. The onset of transplant led to chronic Graft versus Host disease with life changing consequences. Emily is now on the very long road to recovery with not only the support of Alder Hey, her family & friends but through her own strength and determination.
Alan Scarisbrick participates in the Great Northern Run each year to raise funds and is undertaking the Coniston Challenge to say thank you to Alder Hey for my son, Adam’s lifesaving diaphragmatic hernia operation in 1995 along with the continued treatment & support.
John, Stuart & Alex have joined the team in appreciation of the excellent work, dedication & care by Alder Hey, so collectively our efforts are not only to say thank you for those we know who have received treatment at Alder Hey, but to support those children receiving treatment now and secure the unit for the future needs of sick children, so your donation to Alder Hey Children’s Charity is greatly appreciated.
Your support means the children of Alder Hey, thank you.
