Back in April 2015, Olivia my 13 year old daughter had a serious accident whilst horse riding. She was knocked unconscious and at one point stopped breathing.
My wife who was with her at the time had to administer CPR – she thankfully attended a St Johns First Aid at Work course only a few weeks previously.
Olivia started breathing again but was still unconscious when the Midlands Air Ambulance landed and she was transported to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with a brain injury.
She eventually came round over the next month but took several days to open her eyes and several weeks to speak again.
Without my wife Moira's quick thinking, the Air Ambulance and the BCH, things could have been very different.
On one of my early morning journeys to the hospital, Chris Evans announced the National Walk to Work week to which I shouted at the radio
"...It's ok for you ! I can't walk to work!"
The seed was sown and so from someone who usually walks to the car park and back, I have decided to walk from home, Malvern, Worcestershire to the office Upminster, Essex.
170 miles by car, approx 140 walking miles depending on the route taken.
Please give what you can or do your own walk to work and donate your bus/train fare or petrol money for the day !

Update - Date has been set for Monday 6th June finishing at the Arcus Head Office, Upminster Friday 10th June.
Arcus Solutions will be utilising my Training regime as part of their Working on Wellbeing campaign. We will be focusing on the health of our collegues and getting people up and walking.
Another Update - Sat 21st May, the day of my Birthday/Charity Night and we've broken through the £1000 barrier which is fantastic ! Thanks to all who have donated so far, hope to get some more in from tonights raffle..
