You can vist our JustGiving page for gene and stem cell therapies below where your donation will contribute to our research into severe sight loss.
The Gene and Cell Therapy Group at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology have been at the forefront of gene and cell therapy research for over 15 years. Our research focuses on improving understanding of a number of retinal diseases and the development of new strategies and techniques to tackle retinal degeneration. You can find out more on our website.
In the last few years our work has lead to the development of a number of clinical trial programmes. We are currently engaged in the worlds first gene therapy trial for childhood blindness caused by a condition called Leber Congenital Amaurosis and we are also conducting Europe's first phase I safety trial to assess whether stems cells could be used to repair macular damage in people with Stargardt disease.
Your generous donation will help us in our goal to expand the range of retinal diseases that can currently be treated and to bring more novel gene and cell therapies to the clinic in the future.
