Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I did it - sort of!!! The run was fantastic, if exhausting. The pier2pier swim was postponed due to poor conditions forecast so I swam 1.4 miles in my local pool instead (90 length). I will still do the sea swim on the rescheduled date of 9th August. Thanks everyone! Tired & achy but rather chuffed!
I started running in summer 2012 - in bursts for a count of 50 while walking my dog...
I wanted to set myself a new personal challenge and raise money for good causes at the same time. I therefore decided to run my first "ultra" - 50k along the Liberty Trail from Somerset to Dorset - and then swim from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier the next day.

The charities:
Autism Wessex - As a speech and language therapist (Kate Hughes) working with young people on the autistic spectrum I regularly see the fabulous work Autism Wessex does and the support it provides to people at all stages of life and their families.
British Heart Foundation - BHF organises the annual pier2pier swim and is a fabulous charity, Most people have lost a loved one to heart problems, myself included, or know someone who owes their life to the advances in medical science made possible by charities like BHF.
