Having moved up the running distances from zero running (not even for the bus!), 5km, 10 km and half marathon I wanted to take on the ultimate challenge and see if I could run a marathon. Those who know me will know that running is not something that has come particularly easy to me. I first took up running after a bit of a health scare, when you think you cant do something you want to do it more, and there began my running journey!

I have just created this page as I wanted to do the majority of the training to make sure I was up to the distance (although I'm still not sure!!) however I have now completed 16 weeks of training and have 5 weeks till the event. Time to prepare the violins - the training has involved 10-15 hours running or working out, a no alcohol policy and quite an impact on my social life (some runs taking between 2.5-3 hours) ! my family and friends have been remarkably patient!! So when you are donating its not just the 26.2 miles on the day, its the training that has gone into getting me to the start line.

I have chosen 2 charities to raise money for, both offer invaluable support to people with burn injuries (Katie piper foundation) and visible differences (changing faces). The majority of the services offered by charities rely on fund raising to continue their amazing work.
