RIDE OF THE LIONS
A number of ex British and Irish Lions and ex Austrailian Wallabies rugby union players are riding 1,000km with guests to raise funds for Walking with the Wounded between the 2nd and 3rd tests of the Lions Tour of Australia 2013 (30th June - 6th July).
The ride also aims to carry the official match ball from one stadium to the other. The ride will start and finish by attempting to break the World record for the longest community bike bus, both in Melbourne and one week later in Sydney. All members of the community will be invited to participate in this short bike ride.
This year is the 125th Anniversary of the British & Irish Lions. On average WWTW spend approximately £2,500 supporting a wounded soldier back into employment once they have left the military, To this end if they raise £312,500, at £2,500 per injured soldier that equates to supporting 125 wounded soldiers (one for every year of the Lions) back into work.
