Thank you very much for visiting our page
Our challenge is to complete an open water sea swim from the Isle of Wright to Gosport (Portsmouth) on August 19 at 1 pm crossing a distance of 3 miles / 5 km in freezing water, busy shipping channel and challenging waves and tide.
About the team:
There are 7 of us, old friends and/or new colleagues, all London based far from the sea side. Mostly training in chemical London pools, we expect the sea to be cold and the waves pretty rough.
About the charity:
Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards (PSVL)
This is for us an opportunity to raise much needed fund for a local charity: Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards (PSVL).
FOUNDED IN 1933, The PSVL is a beach lifeguard club based on Southsea seafront.
We encountered Cy (PSVL’s volunteer) in one of our trip to the coast – He made us realise that such association entirely rely on public donation and volunteer time.
Their mission: provide lifeguard cover & promote the teaching and training of the Royal Life Saving Society for lifesaving and lifeguarding.
We believe that our fundraising will help promote local activities and maintain a safe coast for all of us They truly have a great spirit and limited resources.
"WE DARE THE WAVES A LIFE TO SAVE"
