Right now, thousands of nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers across the UK continue to be at the forefront of battling COVID-19. This is why we want to support the RCN Foundation and are asking you to donate to enable them to continue to help nurses, midwives and health care support workers who are been adversely affected by the pandemic.

We want to help people like Assy, a paediatric agency nurse for 13 years, who had to self-isolate for two weeks due to a member of her household showing COVID-19 like symptoms. During this time, she wasn’t paid any sick leave – and later lost her job. As a single mother of 2 young children, she felt desperate and worried that due to the loss of income she wouldn’t be able to pay her rent or bills. On receiving the grant, Assy said “I am so grateful to the RCN Foundation – I am not sure what I would have done without this grant, the money provided me with much needed relief at one of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you so much.” 

Or like Health care support worker, Mohamed, who has a 4-hour round trip into work but when his car broke down, he felt desperate as he simply couldn’t afford to fix it. He applied to the RCN Foundation COVID-Support Fund and asked for a grant to get his car fixed so that he could continue to get to work and join the thousands of other health care professionals putting their lives on the line every day to ensure that we are all as safe as we can be. 

To raise further awareness of this cause, we will be hosting a community BBQ day to get us outdoors and thinking about the sacrifice these everyday heroes have to go through. This will be broadcast live on Instagram TV (IGTV) via @the.sizzle.show account throughout the day on February 7th 2021. We strongly encourage you to get on the grills that day and join us! Share your picture of the days cook and we'll feature it throughout our stories and feeds on social media.

After the campaign has finished, we will do a live prize draw and contact all winners via email or a social media DM to claim their prizes!
