We provide information and support to children with heart conditions and their families. We provide subsidised holiday breaks, PGL activity weekends, a copy of the 'Heart Children' book, free wetsuits, get-togethers, newsletters, info packs, and a private Facebook support group for our families.

Story

Hi there, Thanks for visiting our page

About Us

We’re The Freestone family, John, Cheryl and our gorgeous little girl Libby Grace. Libby was born in 2007 with a congenital heart problem known as a Complete Atrial Ventricular Septal Defect (AVSD). Initially doctors thought Libby would need open heart surgery at 3 months old, however, our little trooper managed to heal part of her defect which meant her surgery could be postponed until she was older making it less risky with more chances of success.
We have some tough times ahead and we have already been through a lot so far, despite this we remain positive due to the support we give each other and through love of family and friends.
One thing that has always helped us is realising we are not alone in our struggle, there are many other parents and families going through what we are, and some who are going through worse. We were made aware of Heartline through our visits to Leeds General Infimary, the charity gives support to children with heart disorders and their families, they do fantastic work and you can read more about them at www.heartine.org.uk.
If you would like to read more about our experience so far then download Issue 79 of the Heartline Magazine from the information and resources page of the website where Libby's story is published

Fundraising

Due to our experience and the realisation that others are going through the same, we have decided to give something back, not only to Heartline but also to the British Heart Foundation who are instrumental in supporting those with heart disease and greatly funding research into the many heart defects and illnesses. We have many events in the pipeline and the first is our Cake and Jumble Stall at The Auckley Show.

Cake and Jumble Stall

Our First fundraising event on will be a stall at The Auckley Show in . We are selling scrumptious home-made cakes and biscuits and will also have a Jumble sale selling all sorts of items kindly donated by family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues etc. For more information on the show please visit www.auckleyshow.co.uk, we would love to see you there. Our stall is predominantly fundraising for the British Heart Foundation on this occasion but we will be raising awareness for Heartline with literature etc.

Future Fundraising

Our heads are overflowing with ideas for the next event so watch this space, possible up and coming in events may be: Pub Quiz Night, The Freestone Film Festival, Musical Entertainment Evening, to name a few!...
We are also planning on taking part in organized events such as Fun runs, Walks and Bike Rides so watch out for the occasional sponsorship form flying around!

Thanks again for visiting our page and please, if you can spare a little extra this month, why not donate a little to Heartline, it will be much appreciated.

Lots of Love
John, Cheryl and Libby Grace
