Story

The Cycle

Two men cycling 4,000 miles from Cape Town to Kigali in 100 days…

All the Boris Bike training should come in handy then…

The Great CWB Cycle has been over a year in the planning. It started as wanting to tackle an epic adventure in homage to the Cricket Without Boundaries trustees original journey from Cairo to Cape Town coaching cricket in 2005.

The idea was to take on a big challenge to celebrate CWB’s 10 year anniversary, as the charity has become hugely important to both of us since our first trips in 2011 & 2012.

So the basis of our plan surrounded the number 10. Raise £10,000 for CWB, complete the cycle in 100 days, although we have only managed to get 9 countries on the route. Maybe we will just have to keep going at the end.

We want the Great CWB Cycle to be an epic adventure but we aware of the physical and mental demands it will place on our ageing bodies. It’s for this reason we have set ourselves the goal of raising £10,000 and I cannot stress enough that we will both be paying our own way. Flights, accommodation, food, the lot.

I’d urge you to read our blogs, follow our updates, like our pictures and most importantly give generously to the most fantastic cause.

Thank you in advance.

About the charity

Cricket Without Boundaries is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. Crucially, CWB also uses cricket as a tool in the fight against AIDS. CWB’s training sessions have at their heart discussion about the disease in terms of prevention, treatment and equality of treatment for those with and without the disease.
