Story

Why have I repeatedly been riding Box Hill? Simple. It is for charity. The Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton. I want to raise money for this vitally important cancer hospital. I chose Box Hill because of it's Olympic fame. The climb is from the bottom roundabout to it's summit or peak. The target is to beat 9 minutes. I've had quite a few attempts and  I'm down to 9:01.On Friday 19th July at 20:15 I will make what I hope will be a sub '9' effort and would invite donations, no matter how small. The time will be recorded and uploaded to the Strava web page. In early 2013 my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and her treatment at the Marsden is ongoing....UPDATE. Here is what happened with the Fri ride; in the end I managed 9:05. A little disappointing I know, but I am still hoping to nail the sub "9" target in a few weeks to keep my side of the deal and also to thank all of the wonderful people who have helped, have donated and are still donating. Having spent the last five months visiting the Marsden Cancer Hospital...the things I've seen and people I've met...one thing is clear; riding my bike up Box Hill is a privilege and a pleasure. The funny messages and the generosity on the fundsite have been  humbling. Tx.
