Who are Women's Aid?

Women's Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children.

What is their mission?

Women's Aid exists to challenge attitudes and beliefs which perpetuate domestic abuse. They seek through their work to promote healthy, non-abusive relationships.

What is domestic abuse?

‘threatening, controlling, coercive behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, verbal, sexual, financial or emotional) inflicted on anyone (irrespective of age, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation) by a current or former intimate partner or family member.’  - https://tinyurl.com/ma7597mx

Why are you raising money?

Unfortunately domestic abuse is a growing and under reported crime in the UK, Further to this the Covid-19 pandemic has only increased these numbers further with the percentage of all crimes that were domestic abuse related being higher in each month of 2020 compared with the same months in 2018 and 2019 (If you like stats, like I do, Feel free to read the ONS annual report, https://tinyurl.com/yckrbhp5). Therefore I want to raise funds to allow the vital services of Women's Aid to continue.

If you are considering donating, Thank you very much, Any contribution is greatly appreciated, Please only donate money that you do not need yourself and if you are a tax payer add gift aid to your donation. It adds and additional 25% that would otherwise be going to wine and cheese.
