Story
"In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men and women promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. Rett Syndrome Research has a problem, and everyone can help, so they have found them and hired them, The A-Team."
On behalf of our dear little friend, 4 year old Ava Carter, who suffers with the cruel condition called Rett, The A Team has ‘re-formed’ to raise money for the research of its cure.
This year, Ava was keen for us to support an additional charity called Cure Rett. Cure Rett is a relatively new, privately funded organisation which addresses the care of families affected by Rett Syndrome, assisting with diagnosis as well as funding scientific research for a cure www.curerett.org.uk .
The other, the Rett Syndrome Research Trust. We're into our third year of support for, RSRT, an amazing Charity also very close to our hearts, winning the well-deserved award ‘Just Giving New Charity of the Year’ 2012 –www.reverserett.org.uk
For 2013 our ever growing bunch of crazies have taken on the ‘exhilarating/scary/terrifying* challenge -Tough Mudder - London North 2013
Tough Mudder events are hardcore, 12 mile-long obstacle courses designed by Military Special Forces, testing participants’ all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.
Check out what we’re training hard to put ourselves through for this cause!! www.toughmudder.co.uk
Over the last few years researchers have made astounding progress, funded purely by donations such as ours. This has helped scientists show that the progressively debilitating syndrome CAN be reversed in animal Model. A breakthrough in 2012 proved that through a bone marrow transplant, progression of the condition could be halted and some of the symptoms actually stopped.
Month on Month getting ever closer to a cure, Cure Rett and RSRT rely on the likes of you and I, to help them continue their ground breaking scientific research whilst offering support and advice for the growing number of families devastated by the condition …
Since it's not possible to split online donations through Just Giving, we are donating our offline sponsorship to Cure Rett this year; anything raised on this page goes directly to RSRT. Weare able to accept cheques made payable to 'Awareness4Ava'
Please email awareness4ava@hotmail.co.uk if you'd like info and Sponsorship forms sent to you, we’d be very grateful to anyone who’d like to get involved and help us beat our target!!
Dig deep!!
Massive thanks and love,
The A Team
