Story

On June 10 2010, Lt Col Nigel Moreland, Major Carl “Chuckles” Boswell and PJ Luard (a former Army officer) will start the run of their lives. It will take them 851 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just 17 days - that’s a double marathon a day.

They aim to reach the finishing line on June 26 – Armed Forces day – and hope to raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and The Rifles Regimental Trust. The Army Benevolent Fund, the Rifles Association and H4H, who as you know do so much for servicemen and their families. They have made a real difference and so could you by helping us raise as much money as possible.

The Motivation:

Nigel, Carl and PJ were all close friends of Captain Mark Hale. He was killed as he attempted to rescue an injured soldier while serving in Afghanistan with 2 RIFLES in August 2009. He was 42 and left behind his adored wife Brenda, and their daughters Tori, 16, and Alix, 8.

Hale was ‘undentable’ – a word coined by his Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Rob Thompson, when no other word sufficiently captured the essence of the man.

But the Undentable Run is about more than Mark. He is just one of hundreds of British soldiers who have given their lives fighting for their country.
