Important Update 21/09/18
Unfortunately due to poor weather conditions the Velo South event has been cancelled.
Although the event will be re-scheduled for some point in 2019, in a bid to not let everyone down I have signed up for a 93 miles bike ride cycling between Birmingham and Manchester on the 4th October. Hopefully you will see this as a comparable challenge which also features some gruelling climbs! I hope you are still happy with your sponsorship on the basis of this revised event and likewise for those that haven't sponsored yet!
Thanks, Simon

About the event...4 of us are taking part in the Velo South 2018 which is a 100 mile sportive around West Sussex countryside and the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park which features some gruelling climbs as well as some panoramic views! It will certainly be a mean feat for some of us....
Importantly why?
Microtia UK is a charity that was co-founded by a close friend in 2014. Her daughter, Freya, was born with a rare condition called Microtia (Greek for 'little ear') which is a malformation or misshape of the external part of the ear and can vary in severity from the ear being smaller than expected to varying degrees of absence of the outer ear. In some cases, a smaller or incomplete ear canal and/or hearing apparatus may be present or missing altogether. About 1 in 6,000 babies are born with the condition.
Microtia UK is the only UK based charity for Microtia. The charity uses money raised to fund important medical and psychological research such as investigating the emotional impact of living with a visible difference. For further information see www.microtiauk.org.
Microtia UK is a relatively new charity and therefore any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!
