Story
In the early hours of Sunday the 8th of December, it is sad that we report our Violet Maureen Brooke, known as Maureen to many, passed away.
We the family, are collecting donations for the Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Canterbury in memory of an amazing Mum, Nanna, Great-Nanna, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
Maureen was a truly amazing woman. In her early 40s she was diagnosed with MS following loss of sight in her eye. Many doctors did not give her good prospects, however Maureen never listened and despite her condition ever growing, and losing the ability to walk, move her arms and talk loudly, she not once moaned.
She was a Welsh lady born and bred and soon moved to London and then Kent with her husband, where she raised her ever growing family consisting of 4 children including, 3 daughters and 1 son; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Sadly, Maureen lost her husband when she was 63 and was the heart of our family, keeping everyone smiling and being the rock everyone relied on.
Maureen had a fond love for Tom Jones and used to love to dance, sing to songs, watch the Rugby (always supporting her Welsh team); shopping, visiting the theatre and visiting her local pub down Rochester High Street.
Maureen was indeed an inspiration for many as she suffered many other ailments due to her MS. She was a selfless, care free lady who always found laughter in a bad situation and always put those she loved first.
She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends as they grieve the loss of a women who was and will always be an inspiration.
