VVF is a UK charity committed to ‘changing lives through education’ for HIV-affected children in the community of Vipingo, Kenya. Future Hope Montessori School founded by VVF provides education, food, uniforms and medical care. We keep costs to a minimum - every donation goes where it’s needed most.

Story

A team of runners from 1 Hare Court (Nigel Dyer, Geoff Kingscote, Stephen Trowell, Nicholas Yates, Simon Webster, Michael Bradley, Emma Sumner, Tom Carter, Christian Kenny, Richard Sear, Matthew Brunsdon-Tully, Steve McCrone, Mike Lay, and Luke Carvalho and Withers LLP (Emily Copson, Venetia Taylor, Andrew Swan, Sophie Chapman, Amanda Bell, Claire Harris, Leanne Coates and Michael Gouriet) are running in the British 10k London Run to raise money for the Future Hope Montessori School in Vipingo on the Kenyan coast.

This small primary school, which was started from scratch in 2006, is entirely dependent upon voluntary donations. The school has grown to accommodate over 120 children, many of whom are orphans who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS.  It is a remarkably successful  project, tirelessly and efficiently run by its founders Peter and Carol Hardman who explain:

" One of the major differences the school has made is the good, nutritious food we provide. Feeding the children two meals a day makes a huge difference to their health, as many live in pitiful circumstances hovering just above starvation level. Orphaned and lodging with guardians who have virtually nothing themselves most of these children go to bed hungry every night of the week – the food for each child costs £10.00 per month and provides two meals a day."
