Story

On the 24th and 25th of May, I will be walking the London to Brighton Challenge in memory of Arabella Campbell.

Arabella died of a cardiac arrest, the week before her first GCSE exams. Tests showed she was healthy and there was no known reason for her death. Arabella was our cousin, but she was more like a sister in our family and filled every gathering with infectious fun and laughter. She was famous for her hugs and for her practical jokes and her memory continues to inspire our children, Rae and Iris.

We miss Arabella terribly, but are so fortunate to have known her and are deeply appreciative of the positive impact she has had and will continue to have in our lives.

The challenge is to walk the 100km, or 62miles if that sounds better, from London to Brighton in 24 non stop hours...that's the plan, but success is all about correct footware choice you understand!

Amy and Chris have led the way in their awesome Brighton Marathon achievement.... check out their Just Giving page if you have not already been pestered..... I can only hope to plod along in their beautifully shod footsteps, but with your support i'm sure i'll get there.

Like Amy, Chris, Rosie and all, i am raising money and awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

According to CRY, 12 young people in the UK die each week from undiagnosed heart conditions; a handful of these completely unexplainable, as in Arabella's case. The randomness of the event makes it all the more devastating for the families of people who die in this way. CRY are a great charity. They were quick to offer support after Arabella died and continue to do so. They have provided vital counselling to Arabella's mum, Clare, as she tries to come to terms with her loss. If you decide to make a donation, your money will be spent on CRY’s services such as bereavement support, as well as clinical research and their screening programme. Hopefully the work supported by CRY will someday reveal the mysteries of sudden adult deaths like Arabella’s.

THANK YOU!!!
