Story
Dear family and friends,
I'm happy to announce that I will be running the British 10k (July 15th) for the University of California Trust (UK) to raise money for UC study abroad scholarships. While I never had the opportunity to study abroad while an undergrad at Cal, I can see how it could have shaped my maturing mind now that I have been in London for ~8 years now. The perspectives I've gained and the multi-national friends I have met have opened my eyes, even for a Taiwanese immigrant to the US. I am continually intrigued by the cultures and people I encounter while an expat. Thus, I hope that the money raised can offer young students an opportunity to see the world while further advancing their education.
Last year I ran a 48min 10k. This year I hope to run a 45min 10k (a 7.5min mile pace shouldn't be too hard right?) I will be extra motivated to train harder and feel the pressure to reach my goal the more people donate. Not to mention the guilt should I fail! I only ask a small amount of 5-10GBP per person. Spread over numerous persons, I'm sure that I will easily hit my fundraising goal. Thanks~
Much appreciated,
Weiluo
