Story

Hello all!

I've decided to walk 110 miles from Whinlatter Pass, through the Lakes, over the North Pennines and along the Tyne to Newcastle. This is a journey I did in a much worse state this time last year, and as I've come so far (metaphorically), I thought I'd go a bit further (literally).

The last time I did this journey it took all of about 10 minutes in a helicopter ran by the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS), and unfortunately or fortunately (I'm still undecided) I don't remember any of it. So! Thought I'd try it out again. I'll be camping en route and carrying all my stuff, hoping it will take about 10 days.

In short, on 31st August last year I caused a huge palaver by trapping myself under the side of my van for nearly an hour, which wasn't fun for anyone. Thanks to a load of incredible people, professional and members of the public, I have the capacity to walk all day and shout about how great these humans are!

I'm fundraising for The Beep Fund this time round. They are a fully volunteer based organisation, with volunteer doctors on call 24/7 to help people across Cumbria who, like me, get into various extremely sticky situations. Without them arriving and working alongside GNAAS who knows if I'd even be able to take one step of this walk!

So here's to them, thank you Beep Doctors for doing what you do!

UPDATE 18/09... sat having a big veggy brekky in Alston. The North Pennines are epic, wild and empty!

First day got from Whinlatter to Keswick as a warm up. Then onto Dockray the next day. Through aira force and along Ullswater to Eamont bridge the next day - about 16 miles! Stayed behind a hells angels bunk house (!) Then to Langwathby the next morning. Met with Mr and Mrs Fish, the couple that helped me at the accident by putting logs under the van and my parents and we walked to Melmerby and then Ousby. Me and Mum walked over the moors from there just to south of Alston. A rest day yesterday put me back there last night, camping by the river. To Alston this morning and onto into the moors the rest of the day! Can't wait. THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS!!!

I've just added pictures as an update - have a look!
