We care for nature, beauty, history to benefit the whole nation.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Set amidst wide lawns, amongst roses and yew hedges with Wisteria climbing over its timber and brick walls towards pitched roof tiles, Wightwick epitomizes the Victorian longing for idyllic 'Old England'.

The Malthouse, adjacent to the main house, is Grade II* listed.  When the Mander family built the new Manor they converted the upper floor of the building into a school room.  We would like to turn this space into a high quality gallery and exhibition space and bring this historic building back into full use.

Once the work has been completed, the gallery would initially hold an exhibition of the works of William and Evelyn de Morgan, who were world famous artists in the Arts and Crafts period, specializing in ceramics and paintings.  These beautiful items will fit in very well with the amazing Arts and Crafts and Pre-Raphaelite items already in Wightwick's collection.  Once the de Morgan exhibition comes to an end, the high quality space will be used for exhibitions from local and national museums and galleries, which will be a great benefit for Wightwick and the city of Wolverhampton!

The work to crate the gallery will cost £120,000, and we have already raised £110,000 of that.  We are looking to raise the final £10,000 through Just Giving - please help us if you can, even a small donation will make all the difference to us!
