We support our hospitals and clinics to provide outstanding patient care

Story

On 6 August this year, I will be tackling a whole new sort of challenge by leading a group of intrepid explorers to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Why? Aside from being able to tick off another item on my bucket list, I will be raising funds for a cause which is deeply close to me and my family: Borne, an initiative of Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity.

My family and I count ourselves unbelievably fortunate to have  crossed paths with Mark Johnson. My wife and I are so proud of our family but are fully aware that life could have been so different without Mark. By raising funds for Borne we feel we give every little baby in danger of premature birth an extra fighting chance to grow up happy and healthy. There are certain men and women you meet in life who inspire you. By climbing Kilimanjaro I am taking one tiny step to express my gratitude.

About Borne

·          In the UK, more than 1 in 10 babies are born too soon.

·          Premature birth accounts for over 70% of long term disability and death in newborn babies.

·          Worldwide, over 250,000 women die during pregnancy or childbirth every year.

·          1.1 million babies die from the complications of premature birth every year.

This needs to change.

Borne’s goal is to prevent disability and death in childbirth and create lifelong health for mothers and babies.
