So for those of you who know me well you’ll know that running is not my thing! Up until a few months ago even the thought of running any significant distance filled me with fear and seemed completely unachievable!
Since having a baby in September 2015 and dealing with the HUGE life change and challenges new mums face every day this made me consider those less fortunate than myself who are doing this without the love and support from family and friends, without secure surroundings and in extremely harsh conditions, some facing serious relationship issues, domestic violence, depression and substance abuse. Children being born into these conditions need help, they need to be safeguarded and protected.
Learning how hard this can be without any of these limitations inspired me to take on this huge personal challenge to raise money for a charity that helps women and new parents in these situations. Please visit their website to find out more by clicking this link.
Helping Families and Parents | Children North EastI started as a couch potato on 22nd March training 3 times a week which has been really hard, demanding endurance and dedication I didn't realise I had but my focus on helping these families and young children has kept me going, running in the rain and hot summer sun and even up those never ending hills!! So that's my story, please sponsor me to help support struggling families in the North East. Children don't choose the surroundings they are born into so lets give these families a chance to make things better.
