Story

Milan a football mad 14 year old boy who had been playing football for Kenilworth Wardens Football Club in Warwickshire since the age of 6.

Sadly in January 2012, aged 11, Milan had an operation to remove a lump in his spine, this lump turned out be a a rare type of bone cancer called Ewing's sarcoma. Milan had to have a year of grueling chemotherapy and proton therapy treatments whereby he was in hospital every 3rd week.

Milan had the all clear in December 2012 but unfortunately the cancer returned in September 2013, and again had 4 months of chemotherapy treatment with a subsequent 1 month hospital stay in Birmingham Children's hospital for stem cell transplant and high dose chemotherapy.

Milan again got the all clear in April 2014, but so quickly after, in June 2014, suffered another relapse, and was sadly told in December 2014 that the cancer had spread. Sadly at 11am on Monday 2nd March 2015, Milan lost his battle and passed away peacefully at home with all his family

Up until recently, during the whole of this traumatic time Milan had continued to train and play football whenever possible around his treatment cycle, he has twice captained his KWFC football team in winning cup finals and even managed to play some match time in both finals. His positive attitude towards his condition is an inspiration to all. When he suffered his first relapse his response was "I fought it once I'll do it again". Milan continues to show a determined positive fighting attitude after his second relapse.

His football club manager for the last 7 years, Paul Calver - "Milan is an inspiration to everyone around him, his family, his team mates, friends, local community and many people that are just aware of his fight. There are so many other people that can take an example from this brave young footballer"

Milan's club ran  a twitter campaign on thier twitter @KenWardFC trying to raise positive messages and thoughts for Milan under the hashtag #SupportMilansThirdBattle or selling wristbands with the hashtag with all monies going to TCT charity. The wristbands have been worn and tweeted by many famous people under the hashtag on Twitter including the likes of Wayne Rooney, Everton FC, Stoke City, Gary Lineker, Joe Cole, Jason Manford, The Example, to name but a few.

All money donated under this campaign will go to Teenage Cancer Trust, we are still using the hashtag #SupportMilansThirdBattle to promote message of support for the charity and Milan's family and friends
