Story

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><strong><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;</em> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I Ran 350 Miles In </strong></span><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><strong>14 Days &amp; Climbed over 11,500m in 3 Weeks - TIME FOR STAGE 3</strong></span><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Stage 1 &ndash;&nbsp; The Run (350 Miles in 14 Days) - Completed</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Stage 2 - The Climb (2 Mountains - Over 11,500 Metres) - Completed</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Stage 3 -&nbsp;Record Hunting - 25 Peaks in 24 Hours &amp; World Record Attempts<br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong><br /></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Cancer</strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Unfortunately there is a long and frequent history of cancer on both sides of my family and so I've always tried to do a lot of fund raising for Cancer Research, taking part in various sponsored events, including several marathons. </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">However last year there was another case that was very close to home which caused me to significantly increase and focus my efforts.</span><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong><br /></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong><br /></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Hannah</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Further to this my girlfriend Hannah was hit by a drunk-driver while walking home one night and there was nothing that doctors could do. I realise I am biased but as gorgeous as Hannah was, to me the truly inspirational thing about her was how beautiful a person she was on the inside. Incredibly friendly, caring and generous and always going out of her way to help others, I honestly didn't know a single person who had a bad word to say about her and I count myself lucky to have also been able to call her my best friend.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Fighting cancer was a cause very close to her heart, and something she devoted a huge amount of time and effort to and I guess I'm also still trying to make her proud and smile that lovely smile as she looks down from above.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><strong>The Challenges In Detail</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><em>Stage 1 - The Run</em><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">In April of 2009 I ran more than 350 miles in 14 days to raise money for Cancer Research UK.</span></p> <ul type="DISC"> <li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><em>5th April:</em> Run the Paris Marathon</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><em>6th - 17th April:</em> Run 300 miles from Paris to London</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><em>26th April:</em> Run the London Marathon</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">However, following a family bereavement over the summer and a friend receiving a set-back in their fight against cancer, together with a desire to do more to help fight the disease I decided to extend the paris2london project.</span></p> <p><em><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Stage 2 &ndash;&nbsp; The Climb</span></em></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">In the summer of 2010 I climbed two mountains in two different continents in just 3 week.&nbsp; First&nbsp;I successfully scaled&nbsp;Mt Damavand (5,610m) in Iran before travelling to Tanzania to conquer Mt Kilimanjaro (5,892m) &ndash; a combined height of over 11,500 meters (or over 2,500m more than Mt Everest).</span></p> <p><em><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Stage 3 - 25 Peak Challenge &amp; Record Hunting</span></em></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">As I'm still fulfilling my pledge to pay all expenses and ensure every penny donated goes directly to help beating cancer I have decided Stage 3 will consist of 5 shorter, but still ambitious UK based challenges rather than a 2-3 week project abroad.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">i) 25 Peak Challenge - I will start by climbing 25 of the tallest peaks in the Lake District - including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.&nbsp; This is normally done over 2 days but I'll be attempting to conquer all 25 peaks in under 24 hours and unlike the more popular 3 Peaks Challenge, the entire route is on foot with no driving between peaks or resting.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Record Hunting: I'll announce more details on each challenge as I complete the previous one but the plan is to attempt to break 3 World Records and complete a 24-Hour Triathlon over the next 12 months.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">If you would be kind enough to sponsor me I would be incredibly grateful.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Help Spread The Word<br /><br /></strong>I'd be very grateful if you could forward the details to anybody or business who you think may be interested in supporting the challenge!<br /><strong><br />Donate<br /></strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><br />It may sound like a cliche but even the smallest amounts really can make a difference so please, please give sponsor me if you can! </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It&rsquo;s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you&rsquo;re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.<br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Many thanks,</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Kaveh<br /></span><br /><strong>www.paris2london.com</strong><br /><strong>kaveh.fatemian@gmail.com<br /></strong></p>
