We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2017, my then 15 year-old nephew Réne was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This was quite a blow for my entire family and in particular his parents, my sister Birgit and her husband Urban.

Réne was treated at the University Hospital in Münster, Germany. Réne was remarkably stoic and participated in a clinical trial for a new chemotherapy protocol, which was designed by the European Network for Paediatric Hodgkin’s Lymphoma as part of the EuroNet-PHL-C2 trial. The aim of the clinical trial is to devise a protocol that requires fewer rounds of chemotherapy and also to reduce the need for radiological treatment, which can have significant side effects later in life. Stephen Daw at UCL, the PI received a generous grant from Bloodwise for over £1M to support this clinical trial.

Réne is now in remission and I am raising funds to thank Bloodwise for their fantastic support for the research into blood cancers that helped cure his lymphoma.
