At McCarthy & Stone, we create retirement communities that enrich the quality of life of our customers and their families. In support of this we are delighted that Beanstalk have agreed to be our charity partner for 2019.
A school is at the heart of every community, so by involving our customers and staff with this great children’s charity, we are creating a wider community that enriches everyone’s lives.
It’s hoped that this exciting partnership will help inspire the next generation of readers!
Beanstalk is a national children’s literacy charity that has been working for 45 years to provide one-to-one support to disadvantaged children who struggle with reading. Last year, they recruited, trained and provided ongoing support to nearly 4000 dedicated volunteers who delivered impactful reading support to more than 13,000 children.
In 2019 we hope to raise £120,000 for Beanstalk, with the aim to supersede this target and reach the same level of donations as our 2016 partnership with the RVS, which was over £260,000. This initial target would enable Beanstalk to help around 1000 additional new children learn to read and support 300 more children through inspiring Story Reader Days. We would also be looking to train and provide new volunteers both from our customers and employees across a variety of reading programmes.
