London Marathon 2027

Your questions answered

Learn about raising money for your charity in the two-day 2027 event.

The most important question isn’t which platform is official. It’s how you help your fundraisers succeed.

London Marathon 2027 is set to be the biggest ever, with around 100,000 runners expected to take part across two days. Many charities have questions about the updated terms and conditions, Enthuse’s role as the official fundraising partner, and whether they can continue using JustGiving.

The good news is that London Marathon Events (LME) has publicly confirmed charities do not need to use Enthuse exclusively.

Can we still use JustGiving for London Marathon 2027?

Yes, LME has publicly confirmed that charities don’t need to use Enthuse exclusively. In comments provided to Civil Society, LME stated that charities can continue to use other fundraising platforms too.

The most important question isn’t which platform is official. It’s which approach helps you maximise fundraising, deliver a strong supporter experience and support fundraisers throughout their journey.

Has London Marathon Events changed its position?

LME has clarified its position following questions from charities about the updated terms and conditions.

Some charities initially interpreted the revised wording as meaning they’d need to use Enthuse exclusively. Since then, LME has publicly stated that charities do not need to use Enthuse exclusively.

LME’s published FAQ now says it asks charities to lead with Enthuse as the official fundraising platform for the Saturday event, while confirming that charities may continue using other fundraising platforms alongside it.

This clarification should give charities confidence that they can continue to choose the fundraising approach that works best for their supporters and organisation.

Do charities have to use Enthuse exclusively?

LME has publicly confirmed that charities do not need to use Enthuse exclusively.

Charities should review their own agreements and guidance from LME, but the public clarification issued since the original terms were circulated confirms that other fundraising platforms can still be used alongside Enthuse.

Will we lose our London Marathon places if we use JustGiving?

We are not aware of any public statement from LME saying charities will lose places for using JustGiving.

When asked by Civil Society how compliance would be monitored and what consequences might apply, LME did not provide details on monitoring or enforcement.

What LME has publicly stated is that charities do not need to use Enthuse exclusively.

If you have questions about your specific agreement, we recommend speaking directly with LME.

Key lesson

The highest-performing charities tend to:

  • Create pages early on JustGiving
  • Activate supporters quickly
  • Set clear fundraising milestones
  • Maintain regular stewardship throughout the campaign

The most important question isn’t which platform is official. It’s how you maximise fundraising and create the conditions for supporters to achieve their best results.

Yes. We’ve updated our London Marathon guidance, campaign setup, reporting resources and support materials to reflect the new two-day event structure.

Teams across JustGiving have been preparing for the possibility of a two-day event for some time.

Whether you have places on Saturday, Sunday or both days, you’ll have access to updated resources designed specifically for London Marathon 2027.

Keep it simple. The charities that consistently raise the most money tend to focus on:

  • Getting fundraising pages live early
  • Activating supporters quickly
  • Maintaining momentum throughout the campaign
  • Sharing regular fundraising tips
  • Making supporters feel recognised and supported

The fundamentals matter most: getting supporters fundraising early, maintaining momentum and delivering a positive supporter experience throughout the campaign.

Yes, we keep reporting simple and accurate, even for the new two-day event.

You can create reports just like you normally would, then see your combined fundraising total over the two days, or each day individually.

Plus, you can create templates so anyone on your team can see just the data they need for their job.

Focus on fundraising outcomes. Ask questions like:

  • How do we get supporters fundraising earlier?
  • How do we keep momentum high throughout the campaign?
  • How do we help runners reach and exceed their targets?
  • How do we provide the best supporter experience possible?

The charities that answer these questions well are often the ones that raise the most money.

If you’d like an independent perspective, organisations such as Fundraising Everywhere have been gathering feedback from charities about the impact of the London Marathon changes. Conversations are confidential and intended to help them understand how charities are experiencing the changes.

More broadly, charities can also engage directly with the Fundraising Regulator on fundraising-related matters.
