Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page for the London Marathon.

Earlier this year we lost our beautiful friend Lucie to cancer. Lucie was an absolute force of nature even through the hardest times and her positivity was an inspiration. Guy's helped her throughout her journey, from diagnosis, through her care and continues to be a wonderful support to her partner, Toby.

Guy's invaluable help and support wouldn't be possible without the support of donations, and no one should face this hardship alone.

I wanted to do my bit to raise money for this incredible organisation, so am lacing up my running shoes and running the London Marathon in April 2024.

Please donate what you can so that more people that need it can have access to support from Guy's.

Some donation info from Guy's:

By donating, you'll help support the incredible NHS staff and exceptional healthcare provided by Guy's Cancer. Your donations will help make sure everyone gets personalised care which is as unique as they are.

Every penny of your donation will help to make a difference:

  • £10 could help run a virtual support group session, enabling patients and carers to share their experiences of cancer from the comfort of their own home.
  • £50 could help provide a comforting care package for someone receiving end of life care, helping to alleviate symptoms and soothe fears.
  • £150 could provide expert welfare and benefits advice for a patient experiencing financial hardship, giving them the freedom to focus on their recovery.
  • £350 can help invest in the latest surgical robotic technology, so expert surgeons can work with greater accuracy and send patients home to their families sooner.

Thank you so much for your support.

With a focus on patient-centred care, we combine state-of-the art-equipment, novel clinical trials, passionate staff and the most modern cancer research with compassion and effective psychological support so that our patients and their loved ones can feel fully supported throughout their cancer journey. We do this because we know each person and every cancer is unique - we don’t want to treat them all the same. Guy’s is the leading UK provider of care and treatment for people with cancer and we’re dedicated to helping patients navigate what can be the most challenging time of their lives. With all our services located under one roof within our bright and welcoming Cancer Centre, we’re able to offer seamless care every step of the way, from diagnosis, through treatment, and after, in an environment that doesn’t feel like a traditional hospital. We know that the landscape of cancer is changing. More people are being affected, but we’re at an exciting point in time when promising new therapies are being developed and research breakthroughs are waiting to be made. It’s crucial that we continue to fund the innovative research, treatment and exceptional care that takes place at Guy’s to ensure we keep going above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide as we help more people cope with and survive cancer.
