Visit the charity's profileRich Seubert's Celebrity Games for Child Life will take place virtually on Monday, April 19 through Friday, April 23, 2021 and will feature Rich, his former teammates and local celebrity friends challenging pediatric patients at Marshfield Children's Hospital and their Child Life Specialist to a virtual game and laughs. Throughout the week, virtual games will take place and brighten pediatric patients' and celebrity guests' days with some friendly competition for a great cause.
A little girl receiving her infusion treatment every week. Babies spending days and weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A young boy improving his motor skills through rehabilitation after a serious accident. Help ensure Child Life and Expressive Therapies is there for our littlest patients and their families. Coaching them through IV pokes, lab draws, MRI and CT scans, and essential surgeries.
Going through the fear and anxiety of a serious illness or procedure is tough for an adult, imagine what it's like for a child. That's where Child Life and Expressive Therapies come in. Child Life and Expressive Therapies facilitate a positive experience for pediatric patients undergoing difficult procedures, surgeries, receiving ongoing care such as chemotherapy and children of adult patients. Child Life Specialists are trained professionals with expertise in helping children and families through challenging situations in a health care setting.
Child Life and Expressive Therapies at Marshfield Children's Hospital normalize a child's environment and reduce the stress of medical experiences by:
- Increasing understanding of medical procedures though medical and therapeutic play before and after procedures
- Providing support, coping skills and distraction techniques during treatment
- Enhancing positive physical, cognitive, emotional and social interactions with music and pet therapy
Our Child Life Specialist always had something up her sleeve! She created many projects with our son that are now a part of our memories of him. They exceeded expectations every time. The bar has been set very high at Marshfield Children's. Child Life played a huge part in our family's experience at Marshfield Children's Hospital each time that our son was in the hospital. They took a lot of the pressure off of trying to comfort our son during different procedures. They let us just be his parents.
