Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana provides safe and enriching environments for young people after school, offering programs focused on academic success, character and leadership development, and healthy lifestyles. Serving over 8,000 youth annually throughout their 10 Clubs in Lake and Porter Counties, they are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

A bit about me..

I’m Jervai Dumas, a proud native of Gary, Indiana, and a licensed clinical social worker deeply committed to making a lasting impact across Northwest Indiana. I’ve had the privilege of earning degrees from Indiana University Bloomington and Loyola University Chicago, and I've devoted my career to every facet of social work—ranging from mental health and substance use to medical, geriatric, and end-of-life care. I also provide clinical supervision, teach as an adjunct instructor, and lead community trainings. My passion lies in creating spaces for healing, growth, and transformation, both in and outside of clinical settings. I’ve been honored to receive recognitions like the 2023 Most Influential Woman in Health award and the IU Northwest Founder’s Day Teaching Award, which reflect my ongoing commitment to service, education, and advocacy.

I’m also incredibly proud of the life I’ve built with my college sweetheart, Ellis G. Dumas III. We’re raising four amazing children—Ellis IV, Jaci Lynn, Jamie Leigh, and Julie Lynn—and our family is truly my safe space. We serve our community together, rooted in love, faith, and the belief that collective care can change lives. My work is an extension of who I am, and I’m passionate about lifting up others and building a future where everyone has the tools and support they need to thrive.

As a Clubhouse Hero during the 2025 Clubhouse Hero Challenge from May 25 to June 8, I am competing against other local leaders to see who can raise the most funds to support bright futures for our region’s youth. If I win, I will deliver on a special promise for the kids at one local Club. Your contribution gives our region’s children the tools to become the superheroes of their own stories.
