On Sunday 21st April 2024 we ran the London Marathon for Hospice UK. 

Having overcome the logistical issues of separate start lines, malfunctioning technology (Chris’ phone didn’t work) and last minute wardrobe changes, we ran PBs for the event in 4hr 31 mins. They were PBs because the furthest we had ever run before was 22 miles. We finished  just behind Sir Jim Radcliffe, who was in a hurry to attend an important football match at Wembley Stadium.

The highlights were Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Victoria Embankment.  Emily sprinting for a taxi after the finish rivalled anything she had done in the race itself and the post-run roast dinner was spectacular.

It hasn’t put us off running and another marathon this year is a possibility. Thank you to everyone who has donated. It’s not too late to top up and or to make a new donation, all for a very good cause. There is a little over £1,000 to raise in order to get to our £20,000 target and every donation, big or small, will make a difference.

We have thought about Sally many times in training. In fact every time Don’t Look Back in Anger (Oasis) came on the playlist. She is the reason we committed to do this and she was with us all the way round. Our training had been part of our grieving but, like the race itself, it's over now.
