Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ive got into running over the last couple of years and although Ive done a few 10ks and some Parkruns this is a real challenge for me. (The longest I’ve run is 7 miles and only because I got lost).
Im raising money for Alzheimer's Society as this horrible disease needs to be better understood, controlled and totally destroyed.
I’ll write a series of updates so anyone interested can keep tabs on how things are going.
Here is how the money raised will be used to support those with Dementia:
£11.73 - means our Helpline team can be there for 1 person all this year. The National Dementia Helpline is there to help at what can often be a time of crisis for people living with dementia. The Helpline is relied on, and trusted, to give the confidential help and support they need.
£50 could fund the equipment a dementia researcher needs for a day to investigate ways to improve care and treatment for the condition and get closer to finding a cure.
£75 pays for 1 people to attend Singing for the Brain® over the course of a year. These groups encourage people to sing along to some of their favourite songs and enjoy time with friends.
£100 covers Alzheimer’s Society’s cost of supporting one patient with early stage Alzheimer’s for three months on one of our vital trials. Our Drug Discovery Programme could deliver new treatments for dementia faster and cheaper by repurposing drugs already in use for other health conditions.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
