Story
Now, more than ever, we need to support the fight for civil rights.
For more than 50 years, the Washington Lawyers' Committee has been working to dismantle racial injustice and pursue lasting change for housing justice, workers' rights, prisoners' rights, education equity, disability rights, and against police abuse.
During Trump's first presidency, WLC filed a lawsuit against members of the Proud Boys, a violent all-male group with ties to white nationalism. The Proud Boys attacked and vandalized the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic Black church in Washington, D.C., because of its congregants’ support for the Black Lives Matter movement. WLC's victory in this suit marked a significant step toward holding the Proud Boys accountable.
Today, WLC continues to fight for the rights of our most marginalized neighbors. We are prepared to face the most crucial racial justice issues of the decade, and we are uniquely positioned to lead the movement toward lasting systemic change.
We invite you to join us in this fight and support our fundraising efforts to dismantle injustices in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and nationwide!
