As an interdisciplinary program of study, women's and gender studies introduces students to the scholarship, literature and creative works on and by women that are transforming the liberal arts and the professions.

Chartered in 1973 as the Carolina Piedmont Foundation, and renamed in 2009, the USC Upstate Foundation exists to seek and accept gifts of charitable, benevolent, cultural and educational purposes for the exclusive benefit of the University.

Story

25th Anniversary Fundraiser

Celebrate 25 years of the Center for Women's and Gender Studies at USC Upstate! We're a thriving program offering unique programs at the intersection of gender, race, sexuality, and disability. To ensure our impact continues, we aim to raise $25,000 in increments of $25, $250, and $2500. These funds will support events, conferences, accessibility initiatives, and community projects in Spartanburg. Can you join the CWGS in making an Anniversary contribution? Help make a difference!

Mission

Through curricular and co-curricular programming, the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (CWGS) provides opportunities for the campus community to examine cultural assumptions about gender as it intersects with ethnicity, age, socioeconomic class, dis/ability, body size and sexual orientation while facilitating critical thinking about the interrelationship of gender and power.
