Story

I know I have a lot more to offer this world.

HCC students Brandon Cain and Daphne Wesson thought their lives were set.

Brandon was a high school football star with a Division II college scholarship. Daphne was an esthetician who earned enough money to support her two young boys.

But an injury brought Brandon home.

And Daphne lost her job.

Their paths led them to Houston Community College... where they received a life-changing scholarship -- the Black History Scholarship.

Since the founding of the HCC Black History Committee nearly 15 years ago, hundreds of HCC students like Brandon and Daphne are pursuing their college dreams and career aspirations with support received from the Black History Scholarship. The Black History Scholarship transforms the lives of HCC students.

At this challenging time, we celebrate the strength found through celebrating our diversity. Brandon and Daphne make us HCC proud and their success reflects the power of education to transform lives. HCC shapes the future for all students with innovative, affordable, timely, responsive, and continuously improving educational programs and services. HCC is Houston's Community College, and Brandon and Daphne inspire us with their stories of achievement.

Thank you for the generous past support of the Black History Committee, which allows students like Brandon and Daphne to seek successful paths through higher education. At this difficult time, our students face even greater financial challenges. A gift today will help remove these financial barriers so that more students like Brandon and Daphne have access to a college education.

Together, we can help more students embark on a brighter future!
