Baylor College of Medicine, the founding healthcare institution in the renowned Texas Medical Center, possesses unmatched biomedical resources, employs leading authorities in key fields and partners with the top medical centers and universities in the country. Currently, Baylor is addressing the COVID-19 crisis by collaborating with Johns Hopkins University, Duke University and the Mayo Clinic to help as many people as possible fend off this devastating virus.

Your financial support for one or more of the following programs can change the way we tackle global viral outbreaks and transform our response to future epidemics.

Research Funding Opportunities

Help world-renowned vaccine scientists Peter Hotez, M.D., Ph.D., and Maria Elena Bottazzi, Ph.D., repurpose a potential SARS vaccine candidate and develop a vaccine candidate specifically engineered for COVID-19 at the National School of Tropical Medicine and its Center for Vaccine Development.

Assist investigators in the Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research identify new diagnostic and therapeutic targets and strategies that will enable us to combat COVID-19 more effectively, increase surveillance activities that will help us predict rates of infection and begin a phase 2 clinical trial for remdesivir, a drug under investigation as a treatment for COVID-19.

Redirect resources at Baylor's Human Genome Sequencing Center to prioritize rapid testing of suspected COVID-19 cases and expand the pipeline's capacity to serve broader community needs through a testing franchise model that can be replicated throughout the United States.

Help researchers at the Center for Drug Discovery examine protein targets related to COVID-19 and screen them against 4 billion compounds to identify possible inhibitor drugs that could lead to treatments and stem suffering and death worldwide.
