Luvin Arms founders, Shaleen and Shilpi Shah, received the Karuna Ratna Award at the 2021 JAINA Convention. The Shahs were honored with the award due to their incredible work at Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary, the only Jain founded animal sanctuary in the United States and the only sanctuary that espouses the values of Ahimsa, Karuna, and Jivdaya.

Please join us in further honoring the Shahs and celebrating the Compassion Jewel by donating to our medical fund that provides ongoing and acute essential medical care for residents at Luvin Arms.

Luvin Arms goes beyond rescuing desperate farmed animals. We provide medical, physical, emotional, and cognitive care for each animal resident for the rest of their life. Due to the severe abuse and neglect our residents faced, they require significant care in order to be their healthiest and happiest selves.

For example:

Alfie the Goat required $10,000 in medical bills to remove thousands of kidney stones.

Felix the Pig requires daily arthritis medication and periodic physical therapy and acupuncture at $300 a week.

Niblet the Horse, due to severe laminitis, requires a pasture free of any grasses or weeds. We've been building him and our other residents with laminitis a safe pasture at the cost of $75,000.

Astrid the Chicken, like all our Cornish hens, requires $15 daily care to her treat bumblefoot condition.

Dali, Frieda, and Leo the Donkeys require $225 weekly maintenance on their hooves and for their special diet.

We installed custom medical equipment on the sanctuary for all the cows that will allow us to weigh them and give them on-site medical care at the cost of $15,000.

These are just some of the acute and ongoing costs the sanctuary faces every year. Help us celebrate the work the Shahs were honored with the Karuna Ratna Award by matching the awards gift!
