We need your help to raise money for the Chell Scholars Fund for Undergrad Research in Math. This fund was established in honor of Charlotte Chell. Dr. Chell was a professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Carthage and was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1987-1988. She was also awarded the Carthage Flame in 2010. This fund provides undergraduate students with the opportunity of conducting mathematical research in their field with a faculty member through Carthages SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) program.
The Summer Undergraduate Research Experience offers Carthage students the opportunity to engage in collaborative full-time research with professors. Students selected to participate in the SURE program conduct research for 40 hours per week for 10 weeks with a faculty member. At the end of the program, students write a project report and present their findings at a poster session at Carthage. The Chell Scholars Fund is used to provide financial support to cover expenses such as travel expenses, stipends, supplies, and computer software.
This Giving Tuesday, November 29, we aim to raise $2,500 to unlock a matching gift donation from Professor Mark Snavely and Professor Aaron Trautwein. Help us support and expand undergraduate research in Mathematics by donating to the Chell Scholars Fund today!
